Wallenstein Palace belongs to the most important buildings from the turn of the Mannerism period and the early Czech Baroque in the Czech lands, it is the first secular building of the White Mountain period, which combines the building type of a city palace with an Italian villa. In the years 1623-1630, one of the most powerful and richest noblemen of that time, Albrecht Václav Eusebius of Valdštejn, had this palace complex built on the site of the former Trčků palace, 23 other houses, three large gardens, a city gate and a limestone with a brickyard. The palace was supposed to overshadow Prague Castle with its magnificence.
